Jonathan to spend at least N1.5 billion for another presidential jet

There are currently about 10 planes in the presidential fleet.
The Presidency is set to increase the number of private jets in the Presidential Air Fleet by purchasing an additional aircraft in 2014. The proposal for the new aircraft has already been included in the proposed 2014 Appropriation Bill submitted to the National Assembly.
Details of the budget proposal laid before the two chambers of the National Assembly last week by the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan, revealed that N1.5 billion was proposed as deposit for the purchase of the new aircraft. The proposal was included in the budget of the Presidential Air Fleet under the Office of the National Security Adviser, NSA.
The presidential fleet also proposed to spend about N747 million to take care of its aircraft fuel cost during the year.
Though further details of the planned acquisition were not immediately available as top officials in the presidency who should know were not willing to comment on the issue, it was gathered that new aircraft would be the 11th in the luxurious presidential fleet.
Other proposals in the budget include the plan by the presidency to purchase a new embalming machine for the State House, Abuja, for which a budget of N1.65 billion has been made.
Another N17.5 million has also been set aside by the presidency for the provision of magnetic resonance imaging, MRI, building and mortuary conversion machine; as well as N1.3 billion for the construction of the VIP wing of the State House Medical Centre, Abuja.
In addition, about N17.5 million would go for the construction of hospitals and health centre in the State House, apart from N37million set aside for wildlife conservation purposes in the Presidential Villa.
Another N70 million would be spent for the building and installation of oxygen and other gases generating plant at the State House; N50 million for the completion of the extension of dental wing at the State House Medical Centre; N6 million for two sauna baths; N5 million for a wildlife capture equipment, and N14.5 million to purchase two wildlife animals not mentioned in the budget.
The upgrade of Villa facilities would gulp about N1.5 billion; upgrade of Villa Telecommunication Exchange and spare parts would take N220 million; and about N215million would be spent on remodeling of the new guest house for the vice President at Yakubu Gowon Crescent, Asokoro.
About N50 million has been included in the budget for improvement of electrical installation in the State House Banquet Hall; N15 million for renovation of Horses’ stable/paddock; N8 million for the upgrade and maintenance of Villa Zoo, while N1.8 million would go for six wardrobe/towel shelves for the presidential lodge.
As part of the ongoing reform in the power sector, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, which transmits generated electricity, has been allocated about N24.9 billion for its operations in 2014.
The Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, successor generation companies also have an allocation of N1.143 billion for the year.

Sandro Rosell resigns and Josep Maria Bartomeu will assume the presidency of FC Barcelona until 2016

“In all of these years we have seen that our successes are the result of our victories on the pitch and overcoming innumerable obstacles off the pitch: political, external and, what’s worse, at times the pressure has come from our own environment”

“It has been an honour to serve the Barcelonistas. It’s been a privilege to be the president of FC Barcelona. I wish the best to the new president and I ask the Club members to support him”

“I also want to thank my family. They, in the end, are the essence of my life. They are the most important thing to me”

After the Board of Directors’ extraordinary meeting, Sandro Rosell resigned as FC Barcelona president. The first vice president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, will immediately assume the presidency for the rest of the term, through 2016. Below is Sandro Rosell’s speech:

“Close to four years ago, during the Club’s 2010 elections, thousands of FC Barcelona members cast their ballots with the excitement of showing who they wanted to take the reins of the Club. That day was unforgettable, it was a democratic festival that reinforced the greatness of our Barça.

On that day, 61% of the votes gave the team that I led the charge to direct the destiny of the Club until 2016.

In these four years we have enjoyed and suffered because we are Barcelonistas, just as many generations of Blaugranas have enjoyed and suffered for more than a century.

In all of these years we have seen that our successes are the result of our victories on the pitch and overcoming innumerable obstacles off the pitch: political, external and, what’s worse, at times the pressure has come from our own environment. In the last four years we have won one Champions League, one Club World Cup, two Ligas, one Copa del Rey, one European Super Cup, three Spanish Super Cups and one Copa Cataluña. In addition, our other professional teams have triumphantly paraded our colours around the world showing the character of our multi-sports Club.

Today the Blaugrana feeling is felt worldwide, and it will continue to be felt around the world in the future.

Our global athletic leadership that began with Ronaldinho in the Paris final, and continued with Messi in Rome and London, was coupled with effective economic management, which allowed us to continue to be competitive, reduce our debt, restore and expand the Club’s estate. In addition, we are proud that the best players in the world don our colours.

To this we add the immense excitement of presenting the construction of a new stadium on the foundations of our magical and legendary Camp Nou, which the Club members must ratify via referendum in April.

But this period of success has also brought us very difficult moments. For some time my family and myself have suffered threats and attacks in silence. These threats and attacks have made me wonder if being president means having to jeopardise my family.

In recent days an unfair and reckless accusation of misappropriation has resulted in a lawsuit against me in the Audiencia Nacional. From the beginning I have said that the signing of Neymar Junior has been correct and his signing has caused despair and envy in some of our adversaries.

The right of the Club members to be informed needs to be compatible with the defence of the Club and confidentiality of certain matters and facts. This confidentiality is essential in the world of football because otherwise the Club could be damaged.

The Board of Directors is a team. And this team leads a project that has brought the Club great success. I don’t want unfair attacks to negatively affect their management or the image of the Club. This is why I think my time here has come to an end.

Now, in accordance with the Club’s Statutes, I have presented my irrevocable resignation of the presidency of FC Barcelona to the Board of Directors.

From this moment, just as the directors announced, in accordance with our Statutes, the first vice-president of the Club, Josep Maria Bartomeu, will immediately assume the presidency of the Club until the end of the term, through 2016, just as the Board unanimously agreed a few moments ago.

It has been an honour to serve the Barcelonistas. It has been a privilege to be the president of FC Barcelona. I wish nothing but the best to the new president and I ask the Club members for their support. I sincerely thank the employees of the Club, the players and the managers. My special thanks to the directors who have accompanied me on this voyage.

I also thank my family. They, in the end, are the essence of my life. They are the most important thing to me.

Thank you all.

Visca el Barça and Visca Catalunya”

Four things to know about FC Barcelona v Malaga

Bernd Schuster is back at the Camp Nou for the first time in eight years as manager of a Malaga team that has lost 4-1 on its last three trips FC Barcelona

Malaga haven't won here since 1999/00, when Arnau was on goal for Barca

Malaga rarely get anything out games at the Camp Nou. On Sunday at 9.00 PM CET (C+1) Bernd Schuster will be hoping to change that. Here we pick out four stories related to previous visits by the Andalusians to the FCB stadium.

Schuster, a familiar face

Bern Schuster has not been to the Camp Nou since December 23, 2007, when he was manager of Real Madrid (0-1). The German wore the Barça shirt from 1980 to 1988, making 241 official appearances. He has since faced his former club as manager of Levante, Getafe, Real Madrid and Malaga, winning three, drawing once and losing six games against the Catalans.

Hitting 100

There have been some very special meetings with Malaga over the years. It was last season at La Rosaleda that Barça completed a historic first half to the season with an incredible 55 points out of a possible 57. In the final game of the season, Barça made it to 100 points for the first time ever, in game that was doubly special through being the Camp Nou’s chance to say farewell to Abidal.

4-1 becoming a tradition

Malaga have lost 4-1 at the Camp Nou on their last three trips to FC Barcelona. In 2010/11, Iniesta, Pedro and Villa (2) got the goals, in 2011/12, it was Puyol and Leo Messi (3) while last year the players that found the net were Villa, Fàbregas, Montoya and Iniesta.

Last Malaga win with Arnau in goal

Barça have won a staggering 29 of the 32 games against Malaga at the Camp Nou. The Andalusians have only managed two wins and a draw. The last blue-and-white victory came in 1999/00, when Malaga stunned the home fans, 2-1. The Barça keeper that day was Arnau, who later go on to play for Malaga for two seasons.

FC Barcelona close to seventh semi-final Cup berth in eight years

Never in the history of the Cup have a team fought back from a 1-4 scoreline in the second leg of a Cup tie
Photo galleries
After the 1-4 victory over Levante at the Ciutat de Valencia on Wednesday, Barça are very close to securing their seventh Copa del Rey semi-final berth in eight years. In the Champions League the Blaugrana have qualified for the penultimate round for six consecutive years, and that holds true in the Cup as well.

No team have ever fought back from a 1-4 deficit

History is clear: no team in the history of the Copa del Rey have ever battled back from a 1-4 deficit, there are a total of 55 precedents. Barça went on to win the Cup in 2009 and 2012, they were eliminated from the competition in 2010 when they were defeated by Sevilla in the quarter-finals.

The most recent precedent, ten years ago

The most recent Cup tie between Barça and Levante was played in the 2003/04 season. Ten seasons ago, the men managed by Frank Rijkaard fought back at the Camp Nou from the first leg's 1-0 result. Iniesta, Ronaldinho and Saviola got on the scoresheet (3-1).

If Barça progress to the semi-finals, they could face Real Sociedad, who defeated Racing by 3-1 in the first leg of their Cup tie.

OGUN, FG COLLABORATE TO INCREASE FISH PRODUCTION
As part of measures to bridge the gap likely to be created by the recent ban placed on fish importation, Ogun State in collaboration with the Federal Government is set to introduce the “cage culture system” to enhance natural fish breeding.
The Cage Culture System is a practice whereby nets containing fishes would be placed directly in flowing rivers and guarded with floating materials to make the fishes grow in a controlled environment and protect them from being washed away even when the river overflows.
Inspecting the pilot cage that was presented to the Adijagun Fishermen and Fish Sellers Cooperative Union, Iwopin, Ogun Water side Local Government, Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun affirmed that government would continue to take steps to enhance food production .
She said the method would take only four months for fish to reach maturity as against longer time that would be needed for other methods, pledging that more of such cage would be provided for more fish farmers.
“We believe that this will make fish farming easier because our fishes will be protected in the cage, then sorting and harvesting will also be an easy task. It will also increase production because fishes in the cage will grow faster than the ones in the river”, she said.
Speaking earlier, fish farmers coordinator in the area, Mr. Stanley Awe expressed appreciation to both Federal and State Governments for providing cage culture system, assuring that the farmers would make good use of it for the benefit of the people.
On his part, the Balogun of Iwopin town, Chief Oladipo Omoke described it as a welcome development, requesting for government’s support in renovating fish smoking shed, as the old ones were worn out.

UNTOLD STORY ABOUT ODUNADE ADEKOLA AND TAIWO AWOMOKUN

ODUN IS NOT READY TO TAKE SECOND WIFE
Odunade Adekola is one of the most popular Yoruba Actor in Nigeria.
After surfacing in the Nigerian Yoruba movie industry some years ago, Odunlade Adekola has since become a household name, as the tall, handsome actor has won the hearts of many Yoruba movie watchers both in Nigeria and beyond.
How much do you know about this lovely guy? Sit back and read on, as you’ll get to read many details about him in this article.
Odunlade Adekola Biography
He was born on December 31st, 1977 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He attended the Saint John RCM primary school, and later Saint Peter’s college, both in Abeokuta. After being into acting for some years, Odunlade Adekola started acting at a very early age. According to him, whenever any anniversary was to hold in his church (the Christ Apostolic Church, Lafenwa, Abeokuta), he and a friend, named “Tunde”, would request to play jesters, and this request was always granted.
He would then write a “script” for a comedy play involving just two characters (him and his friend). That was how it all began for this professional actor, director and producer.
After being motivated by the likes of Taiwo Hassan ( ogogo), Adebayo Salami (oga bello), Lere Paimo, and other genius Yoruba actors in Nollywood, he entered the professional scene in 2005.
However, he never started becoming increasing popular until 2007. He received training and additional motivation from Isola Durojaye (Alasari), now late, who believed in his potential and assisted him in bringing out the best in him.
Odunlade Adekola Movies
Despite having not spent up to 10 years in the limelight, Odunlade Adekola has featured in almost 70 Yoruba movies.
In a recent interview, he admitted that the film Asiri gomina wa, in which he played the role of a state governor, was the most challenging assignment of his career, as criticisms and doubts flew about over his ability to play the role
successfully. However, he was able to play the role perfectly, and according to him, he believes that his role in that film opened up the door of many greater opportunities for him. Odunlade Adekola has written and produced about six
movies. These are
1. Farapamo
2. Emi nire kan
3. Baba super
4. Ila owo
5. Eje fun eje
6. Fayebora.
He’s presently working on another movie, the title of which he’s not disclosed.
Odunlade Adekola’s Family and private life
One of the most asked questions about Odunlade Adekola is “Is Odunlade Adekola married?” Well, for your information, the tall, handsome actor is legally married to Ruth with two sons.
Recently, in an interview granted by Taiwo Aromokun, a Yoruba Nollywood actress and Odunlade Adekola’s trainee, she admitted that there existed a relationship between her and the actor. However, the duo had to part ways as he was not willing to take a second wife, and of course, she had to carry on with her life. The breakup notwithstanding, the duo is still on very good terms.
To many lovers of Yoruba movie industry, the name Odunlade Adekola is like what Omotola Jalade Ekeinde or Genevieve Nnaji mean to Nollywood. No wonder he is one of
the highest paid actors in that sector of the Nigerian film industry.
Apart from being an actor, Kola, as he is well known by fans, is also a Glo ambassador.
Recently he shows with his two kids on the 30th of march year 2013.
The wife of Nigerian actor Odunlade Adekola, Mrs Ruth
Adekola has delivered a bouncing baby boy. Ruth gave birth to her 3rd born on Saturday April 13th, 2013

ANGRY Woman Posts Sister’s NÙDE Photos On Facebook [PHOTOS]

Ayanda and her boyfriendA Zimbabwean woman, Ayanda Monica Simango, became infuriated after catching her younger sister having sex with her Nigerian boyfriend.

Out of anger, the scorned woman posted nude photos of her younger sister on her Facebook wall to humiliate her.
Simango posted the pictures recently with the caption, “That’s why l cal u a bi_ch.”

Many of her Facebook friends were against her decision to post the pictures while others posited that her sister is deserving of her comeuppance. The pictures have since been taken downas the family tries to deal with the crisis.

According to reports:
Ayanda is so mad and upset now that she is not entertaining communication from anyone. Unclad photos of the sister as well as the Nigerian boyfriend identified as Martin Arinze from Enugu Nigeria were posted on several popular websites.

We wonder what could have driven the younger sister to do that to her sister, but there is a myth that Nigerian men are known to lavishly pamper and spoil their ladies in stark contrast to most Zimbabwean men.

At least according to the tales that ladies tell. So perhaps this could have been the motivating factor, of course scandals like these happen everyday, but the sister’s reaction has just been epic

Brazil 2014: Keshi faces selection headache

L-R: Balogun, Okaka and Aneke
’TANA AIYEJINA takes a look at some new players, who if given a chance, or want to play for Nigeria, could bring more quality into the Super Eagles as coach Stephen Keshi prepares his side for the 2014 World Cup
Late last year, reports filtered in that Fortuna Düsseldorf defender, Leon Balogun, had indicated interest to play for Nigeria.
Born to a Nigerian father, Cesar Balogun and German mother, Orfa, Leon thus qualifies to play for the Nigerian national team and Germany. The right-back has played for Hannover and Weder Bremen before but he has not been capped by Germany at senior level.
“I will walk to Spain, then swim across the ocean, catch a canoe just to honour the call. It will be the pinnacle of my career to represent the country of my father’s birth especially because my father was always proud to be a Nigerian” Balogun told supersport.com.
Just like Balogun, there are several other players of Nigerian descent scattered all over the world, who would be willing to add to coach Stephen Keshi’s selection headache ahead of the 2014 World Cup in June.
Like they say, the more the merrier, but Keshi sure knows that selecting his final list— from his established players and those who want to break into the team— for Brazil 2014 would give him sleepless nights.
Chuks Aneke (Midfielder, Arsenal)
Arsenal youngster, Aneke, could become an invaluable asset to Keshi as the coach gradually rebuilds a new Eagles side. The 20-year-old has played for England at U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-19 levels. He has a long term future with the Eagles if he switches allegiance to Nigeria.
Currently on loan at Crewe Alexandra, he has scored two goals and two assists in seven matches. The midfielder has been likened to Gunners legend Patrick Vieira.
He has shown a great deal of versatility at Crewe, where he has played as a centre-back and defensive midfielder. Aneke has all the makings of a future star; he has quality, creativity and goal-scoring ability.
Chinedu Ede (Midfielder, Kaiserslautern)
Son of a Nigerian father and German mother, Ede has gone ahead to play for Germany at youth level, winning the European Championship in 2009. Rugged and noted for his versatility, he joined Mainz in the Bundesliga on a four-year contract in 2012 but he has been loaned out to 2 Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern.
Ede is remarkably quick, has good dribbling ability, can play in several positions and is hugely influential in moving forward.
Imoh Ezekiel (Striker, S/Liege)
Ezekiel’s exclusion from the national team still confounds some of his fans. The 20-year-old striker has been in tremendous form since he moved to Standard Liege from 36 Lions two years ago.
His goals have helped fire Standard Liege to the top of the Belgian Jupiler League. He has eight league goals and 11 in all competitions. Last season, he notched 16 goals overall and his outstanding performances this term has triggered interests from French giants Monaco and Lille.
But his steady omission by the Nigerian selectors may be Belgium’s gain as the player reportedly indicated interest to represent the European country at international level.
Kenny Otigba (Defender, SC Heerenveen)
Born in Kaduna to a Nigerian father and Hungarian mother, 21-year-old Heerenveen centre-back, Otigba, has played for the U-21 team of Hungary but he is yet to commit his international career to Nigeria or Hungary.
He rejected a second invitation to play for the Hungarian U-21s thus sparking reactions that he may want to commit his future to Nigeria.
However, the youngster is presently torn about which country he hopes to represent at senior level.
“My dad wants me to represent Nigeria at senior level. My mother is a simpler case, but I think that she would prefer me to choose Hungary.
“One of them will probably be disappointed. Fortunately, I still have time to think about it,” Otigba told csakfoci.hu.
The Nigerian started his European career at  Gyulai Termál FC in Hungary in 2000 before moving to Békéscsaba in 2004, from where he joined Heerenveen six years ago.
Otigba has scored four goals in 12 games from his defensive position in the Dutch topflight this term and playing regularly under coach Marco van Basten is a testament to the player’s huge potential.
Derik Osede (Defender, R/Madrid B)
Born in Madrid to a Nigerian father and a Spanish mother, Osede has represented Spain at U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels, winning the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship with the U-19 side.
The Real Madrid B centre-back, who also represented Spain at the 2013 U-20 World Cup, could bring more competition to Keshi’s central defence.
The 20-year-old is a centre-back with many qualities. He is quick, decisive and a very well-rounded player, both physically and technically. He’s a clear example of a product of Madrid’s academy, having joined at the age of nine and advanced through almost all the categories.
Joel Obi (Midfielder, Parma)
Although he’s not had enough playing time at Parma due to injury, Obi is an asset to his team’s midfield on a good day.
The former Inter Milan man is an all-action player whose strengths are his passing, high work rate and tackling ability if fully fit.
Haruna Lukman (Midfielder, D/Kiev)
Dynamo Kiev midfielder Lukman has been one of Nigeria’s most consistent performers in Europe in the last two years.
Having played at the 2010 World Cup under Swede Lars Lagerback, Lukman has been in the international wilderness ever since, despite calls for his recall to the team.
The hardworking, skillful and highly technical player however says he will continue to give his best at club level.
“I have to be more focused in what I do in my club, the most important thing is to play well for my club and see if I will be called back to the national team,” Lukman told TVC.
Sone Aluko (Forward, Hull City)
Winger Aluko has been missing for more than two months with an Achilles injury but he is on the verge of a return to Premier League side Hull City. He just agreed a two-and-a-half-year extension to replace the former contract, which expired at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old made his Nigeria debut against Ireland five years ago but he has not been able to recreate his performances in English football in an Eagles shirt. He had represented England at all youth levels before agreeing to pledge his international future to Nigeria.
The fast-paced Aluko takes delight in running rings round defenders from the flanks before delivering killer-crosses for the front men to deliver.
Stefano Okaka (Striker, Parma)
Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, 24-year-old Okaka however decided to play for Italy at junior levels but he has been unable to play for the senior national team.
The deadly and powerful striker will definitely give Keshi’s present strikers a run for their money if he decides to commit his international future to Nigeria
Tiago Ilori (Defender, Liverpool)
Liverpool central defender Ilori, has a Nigerian father and Portuguese mother but represented his mother’s country at the 2013 U-20 World Cup.
Ilori’s assets are his technique, composure and tactical reading of the game.
