NDDC to distribute 40 fire trucks to 9 Niger Delta states

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on Friday said it had purchased 40 trucks to combat fire outbreaks in the nine Niger Delta states. This is contained in a statement issued in Port Harcourt
by the Commission's Head of Corporate Affairs, Iditoye Abosede.

The release quoted the NDDC acting Managing Director, Christy Atako, as saying this in Port Harcourt.
Mr. Atako said the commission was committed to partnering with the nine states in the Niger Delta region and other agencies to address the development challenges facing the region.
"NDDC has set a standard, and as such will make sure that all of its facilities, projects and programmes are done according to specifications.
"The trucks, which will be handed over to the state governments soon, should be utilised and maintained properly for the benefit of the citizenry," he said.
The NDDC boss said the trucks comprised water tankers of 30, 000 litre capacity, and TurnTable fire trucks with a combination of water, dry chemicals, and carbondioxiode.
